THE APPLE PROJECT

THE NOWADAYS DECOMPOSITION

Juices, cakes, pies, smoothies, we use apples for all different kind of meals without even wondering if it’s in season… Why bothering when you know you can find them all year long at your local supermarket.

Isn’t it strange by the way? How long does an apple can actually last on a store shelf? It’s the question the photograph Vincent Kraft tried to answer in his experimental series of photographs.

This Granny Smith apple was shot on the same day, for 18 months in order to capture the decomposition process over time.

The result is alarming. Would you eat an apple which travelled in 3 different countries and took 1 year, 6 months and 7 days to perish?

Probably not. But we do. Everyday.
